On the sidelines of AFI Aviation Week 2026, the delegation of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), headed by H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Vice President of the Executive Council of ACAO and Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates, together with H.E. Eng. Khalid Cherkaoui, Director General of ACAO, held a bilateral meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Indonesia, led by H.E. Lukman F. Laisa, Director General of Civil Aviation of Indonesia.
The meeting explored prospects for cooperation and partnership between the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Indonesia. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest and opportunities to strengthen collaboration in capacity building, training, and the exchange of technical expertise, with a view to supporting the sustainable development of the civil aviation sector and further enhancing institutional cooperation between the two parties.
The meeting also addressed a number of issues currently on the international civil aviation agenda, foremost among them the upcoming elections to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The ACAO delegation highlighted the importance of supporting the Sultanate of Oman's candidature for membership of the ICAO Council, in line with the unified Arab position on this nomination. Views were exchanged with the Indonesian side on this matter within the framework of strengthening coordination and cooperation in international aviation forums.
This meeting reflects ACAO's ongoing commitment to expanding its international partnerships and strengthening cooperation with civil aviation authorities around the world, in support of the advancement of civil aviation and the promotion of coordinated international action on issues of common interest.
