On the sidelines of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization's (ACAO) participation in the 35th Ordinary Session of the Committee of Organizations for Coordination and Follow-up, a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States, H.E. Eng. Khalid CHERKAOUI, Director General of ACAO, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Capt. Dr. Sameh Ahmed Zaki El Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation of the Arab Republic of Egypt and President of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, at the Ministry of Civil Aviation Headquarters in Cairo.
At the outset of the meeting, H.E. the President of the General Assembly congratulated H.E. Eng. Khalid on his election as Director General of ACAO, wishing him every success in the discharge of his new responsibilities. He expressed his confidence in the Director General's ability to lead the Organization during the coming period in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the Arab Member States and further strengthens ACAO's role in serving the Arab civil aviation sector.
In his capacity as President of the General Assembly, H.E. also emphasized the importance of continuing the implementation of the resolutions adopted by the General Assembly and of further enhancing the Organization's institutional performance and operational efficiency, enabling it to keep pace with the rapid developments in the global civil aviation industry while reinforcing its position as the Arab center of expertise in the field of civil aviation.
For his part, H.E. Eng. Khalid CHERKAOUI expressed his sincere appreciation to H.E. the Minister for the warm welcome and generous congratulations. He commended the continuous support provided by the Arab Republic of Egypt to ACAO and praised H.E.'s leadership of the General Assembly, which plays a vital role in advancing the Organization's mission and strengthening joint Arab action in the field of civil aviation.
The meeting reviewed the Organization's key priorities for the coming period and discussed ways to implement the resolutions and recommendations of the General Assembly. The two sides also explored avenues for enhancing cooperation and coordination between ACAO and its Member States, strengthening capacity building programmes, promoting the exchange of expertise, and supporting initiatives aimed at advancing the Arab civil aviation system in line with regional and international developments.
The two sides further exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, reaffirming the importance of continued cooperation between the Presidency of the General Assembly and the General Secretariat of the Organization to ensure the effective implementation of the Member States' strategic directions and to further enhance ACAO's role in achieving its objectives and supporting the sustainable development of civil aviation across the Arab region
