The closing ceremony for the CASE II project, focusing on international cooperation in civil aviation security, was held in Paris on November 13, 2025. The event was attended by representatives from European, Asian, and African countries, along with participation from regional organizations such as the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), and the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO). This broad attendance reinforced the spirit of collaboration underpinning the CASE II initiative, which was funded by the European Union and implemented by ECAC. The meeting highlighted the deep engagement of all partner organizations.
The Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization emphasized the organization's commitment to enhancing safety, security, and environmental sustainability in aviation across the Arab world, acknowledging its vital contributions as a facilitator and technical leader.
Between 2020 and 2025, the CASE II project sponsored a series of international seminars and workshops in Arab cities including Marrakech, Casablanca, Tangier, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Riyadh. These events brought together hundreds of experts from Europe, Africa, and the Arab world for open exchanges on topics such as innovation, cybersecurity, risk-based supervision, and the privatization of aviation security. This transcontinental cooperation enabled the sharing of best practices and strengthened sustainability in aviation security oversight.
Participants discussed tangible national outcomes achieved through CASE II support, including improved compliance, enhanced institutional capacities, and the development of regulatory frameworks.
In light of current and future challenges to securing air transport operations, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and its regional partners reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in security, innovative aviation technologies, and facilitation, in alignment with ICAO’s Global Aviation Security Plan.
