Recently, Issue No. 54 of “Arab Aviation” magazine, issued by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization every three months, was published. This issure proposes to readers a set of current topics, with significant space allocated to the most important milestones that the civil aviation sector experienced during the first quarter of the year 2024.

Eng. Abdennebi Manar stated in the editorial that air transport companies have begun implementing the summer 2024 flight program, with an important seats capacity, which is expected to exceed what it was during the same period of the previous year. This is after air traffic recorded a strong recovery last year, as passenger revenues per kilometre increased by 36% compared to the year 2022, which represents 94.1% of 2019 levels according to the International Air Transport Association, and the first quarter of this year witnessed an increase by 10% compared to the same period last year.

He pointed out that optimism was a catalyst for continued work to accelerate the sector’s recovery process, and also an opportunity to benefit from the learned lessons of the crisis resulting from the pandemic and to reconsider priorities in terms of enhancing digitization and reducing the effects of air transport activity on the environment, and translating them into the work program adopted by the ICAO General Assembly (42). The Third ICAO Aviation Conference on Alternative and Low Carbon Aviation (CAAF 3) marked a critical turning point in adopting the Dubai global and collective framework that envisages achieving an ambitious global vision to reduce CO2 emissions in international aviation by 5 percent by 2030 using SAF, LCAF and others. From clean energy to aviation.

In an article entitled: “Falling into the Forbidden,” Captain Dina Abdel Ghani pointed out the importance of the aviation industry and its positive effects on the world, highlighting that air safety is embodied in one goal, which is the complete absence of aviation accidents, as this goal still represents a challenge and the pursuit of achieving it is more complex than before.

Dr. Omar Babakir Ashnebo wrote an article entitled: “Arab air transport is an economic lever in the Arab countries,” in which he highlighted that the Arab region, by virtue of its strategic geographical location, is considered a transit station and a major hub for global air transport movement, so the focus and attention on this sector has increased within the framework of diversification and development. Sources of economic development, especially since the contribution of the air transport sector to the GDP in the Arab countries is about twice the global average, as its contribution is estimated at about 7.3% of the GDP of the Arab countries, compared to a contribution rate of 3.6% of the GDP at the global level.
The new issue also included reports, articles, and the course program for the remaining months of 2024.
