The ACAO 48th Safety Committee meeting ASC/48 has been conducted under Hybrid form, in the HQ of ACAO, Rabat, Morocco, the 22 -23 March 2022 from. The meeting has been chaired by Mr. Ali Neemat Rasham representative of the State of Iraq, the Vis Chairperson Mr. Ammous mohamed attended the meeting in person. The secretariat was ensured by Hicham Bennani Safety Expert within the ACAO.
The meeting was attended by a total of 24 participants from 10 States and 3 Organisations.
Eng. Hicham Bennani opened the meeting on behalf of Eng. Manar Abdennebi DG of the ACAO welcoming the participants. He also reminded that the meeting is taking place prior to the ICAO Assembly 41 to be held end of September till the mid October of this year, which requires intensifying efforts to reduce the repercussions of the Corona pandemic on the global air transport industry.
Mr. Ali Nima Rashem, Chairman of the Air Safety Committee, member of the Republic of Iraq, also pointed out the importance of the topics included in this meeting related to regional initiatives and programs in the field of safety.
In addition to the review of the list of actions and decisions taken as result of the previous session, the meeting adopted a series of recommendations regarding the implementation of the MENA RSOO (outcomes of the 2nd meeting of the Technical Committee), MENA ARCM (Status of the MOU signed) and Action plan aiming supporting the Members States who request it as well as the 2023/2024 plan of ACAO safety activities.
The meeting emphasises also the ACAO part on the achievement of the GASP & RASG SEIs, a series of indicators illustrating that role, has been presented. In addition, the meeting discussed the 5G issue and potential risk to the Aviation in the region. It also pointed out the importance of preparation of the ICAO A41 using the coordination mechanism amended on the light of the lessons learned from its implementation during the ICAO High Level Conference HLCC/21.
