Moroccan government approves a law allowing travel service providers to compensate their customers

Rabat - The Moroccan government has ratified on Thursday, April 30th, a draft law 30.20 related to "setting a legal framework that allows travel, tourism, tourism transportation and air transport services to compensate the outstanding amounts to their customers in the form of an acknowledgement of debt offering similar or equivalent service, without any increase in price and with the aim of reducing all forms of disruption of the economic activity and its impact on jobs, by relieving the pressure on the service providers cash flows.

According to the government council statement, the provisions of the approved bill, "are specified for a defined period of time, based on clear terms, and specific to travel contracts, tourist stays, and air transport contracts for travelers scheduled between March 1, 2020 and September 30, 2020, which were canceled as a result of the pandemic Corona virus outbreak."On an exceptional basis, the government has implemented Article 5 of the Decree-Law on the Enactment of Health Emergency Provisions and related publicity Procedures, in order to approve the related draft law 30.20 submitted by Mrs.

Nadia Fattah Al-Alawi, Minister of Tourism, Handicraft, Air Transport and Social Economy.The ratified law refers to the enactment of special provisions related to travel contracts, tourist stays and air transport contracts for travelers, after taking into account the observations raised thereon, to avoid the risk of bankruptcy of Moroccan service providers and protect the interests of creditors, mainly customers, besides stimulating demand and maintaining the value of transactions.
