Casablanca - The Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization held a joint workshop on "Air Navigation Services Inspectors in the field of air traffic management and search and rescue", from 16 to 20 December 2019 in Casablanca. The workshop aims at developing the capacity of workers belonging to civil aviation authorities and air traffic services providers, exchange of best technical practices between Arab countries, coordination and cooperation with international and regional organizations in the field of civil aviation.

Forty-two (42) participants from civil aviation authorities specialized in the field of air safety, air traffic controllers, search and rescue inspectors, and workers in the field of air navigation management representing eight countries and three international and regional organizations, attended this workshop.

The workshop aims in particular to raising the level of experts in the Arab countries and the Middle East region as far as ICAO standards pertaining to the process of safety oversight, effective planning and safety audits of air traffic services (USOAP) are concerned, review safety audit requirements and critical elements of the air safety oversight program and encourage knowledge and resources exchange between safety professionals in the Arab countries and the Middle East region.

During this workshop, several practical exercises were carried out by adopting ICAO protocol questions in the field of air navigation, with an auditing process in its various stages.
