The fifth meeting of the Air Traffic Management Middle East (ATM SG / 5) working group was held in Aqaba, Jordan

Aqaba - The fifth meeting of the Air Traffic Management Working Group in the Middle East (MIDANPIRG ATM SG / 5) was held in Aqaba, Jordan, from 1 to 4 December 2019, with the participation of Engineer Mohamed Rejeb, air navigation and safety, representing the Arab Civil Aviation Organization. Forty-seven (47) participants from nine (9) countries and representatives from five (5) regional and international organizations and manufacturers attended the meeting.

 

Mr. Mohamed Khalifa Rahma, Regional Director of the Middle East Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Cairo (ICAO MID), who welcomed all the participants highlighting the major achievements in the field of air navigation in the Middle East region, also attended the meeting. He stressed the need for the active participation of representatives of countries to achieve the goals of the air navigation plan and overcome the challenges facing the Middle East region. Dr. Alyo Bernard, Chairman of the ICAO Council, His Excellency Mr. Khaled Walid Saif, Jordanian Minister of Transport and His Excellency Captain Haitham Mesto, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority, took part in the meeting and wished in their words that it would be successful and that its outputs would be at the level of air navigation challenges.

 

During the opening session, Mr. Khaled Ahmed Arabiyat, Director of the Air Traffic Department of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority, was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Air Traffic Management (ATM SG) working group succeeding to Mr. Salim Mohammed Hassan from Bahrain who reached retirement age.

 

During this meeting, all recommendations and decisions adopted since the meeting MIDANPIRG / 17 were examined for follow up and a study of various issues in the field of air traffic management, especially issues related to the development of air navigation management at the regional and global levels, the status of the road network and airspace in the Middle East, air traffic safety and a project management Air traffic flow between the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for the Middle East region was undertaken.
