41st Session of the Air Navigation Committee of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization

Rabat - The 41st meeting of the Air Navigation Commission was held at the headquarters of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in Rabat from 18 to 20 November 2019. Five Member States representing the People´s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Libya, the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in this session.

 

HE Eng. Abdul Nabi Manar, Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, who welcomed the members of the Committee, stressing the importance of the meeting in the context of the development of technical work in the field of air navigation, considering the Air Navigation Commission as one of its pillars, inaugurated the meeting.

 

The Director-General recalled the importance of the topics on the agenda, particularly the support to civil aviation authorities of needy countries implemented by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for the Federal Republic of Somalia and the United Republic of Comoros with the participation of Qatar in conjunction with the African Civil Aviation Commission.

 

His Excellency highlighted the joint program for the next three years 2020-2021-2022 established between the Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Air Transport Association, which was prepared and agreed during the coordination meeting with international and regional organizations held in Kuwait on 3 November 2019. The program falls within the framework of providing efforts, avoiding duplication of work and improving productivity. He also stressed that this alignment, within the future vision and objectives of the Organization for the next three years, would be applied to similar organizations such as the African Civil Aviation Commission, the European Civil Aviation Commission and the relevant ICAO offices (Paris, Dakar and Nairobi).

 

His Excellency emphasized the importance of developing new topics in the navigation sector, especially those related to supporting countries in need and raising the efficiency of civil aviation personnel´s by organizing courses / workshops / seminars in coordination with the regional offices, wishing success to the work of the Committee.

 

For his part, Mr. Ibrahim Bonyan Al-Jabri, Chairman of the Air Navigation Commission and the representative of Saudi Arabia, welcomed the members of the Committee, stressing the importance of the meeting, recalling the topics on the agenda, thanking the Organization and the Director General for the efforts made and for the fruitful cooperation with the regional offices of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Cairo and Paris.

 

The meeting dealt with several topics of importance in the field of air navigation in the Arab region, , including the follow-up to the recommendations of the Air Navigation Commission at its 40th session, the Executive Council at its 61st session, and the project of air traffic flow management in the Middle East region Coverage of satellite navigation and the programs of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in the field of training and upgrading of civil aviation personnel on air navigation for the period from January to November 2019 and the future program of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for the next three years 2020-2022.
