The Arab Civil Aviation Organization participates in the Fifth Meeting of the General Directors of Civil Aviation in the Middle East Region held in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY - A high-level delegation from the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) headed by HE Eng. Abdenbi Manar, Director General of the ACAO accompanied by Eng. Mohamed Rejeb Safety and Air Navigation expert, participated in the Fifth Meeting of the General Directors of Civil Aviation in the Middle East Region held in Kuwait from 4 to 6 November, 2019.

The meeting was opened by His Excellency Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Kuwait, who welcomed all heads of civil aviation authorities and their companions as well as representatives of international and regional organizations and manufacturers participating in the fifth meeting of the Directors General of Civil Aviation in the Middle East.

 

Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), delivered a welcoming speech in which she expressed her gratitude and appreciation in particular to His Excellency Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and the State of Kuwait and its people in general for hosting this meeting, as well as for their hospitality and good organization.

 

Mr. Mohammed Khalifa Rahma, Regional Director, ICAO MID Regional Office, displayed a visual presentation highlighting the major achievements of the Middle East region in various fields of civil aviation (navigation, aviation safety, aviation security, environment and air transport). He also stressed the necessary commitment and cooperation with similar regional and international organizations in the region to overcome the challenges in the different fields of civil aviation in order to achieve the performance targets agreed in the Global Aviation and Safety Plan (GANP, GASP), and in line with the Middle East strategy to leave no country behind (NCLB)


For his part, HE Eng. Abdenbi Manar, Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, made a visual presentation highlighting the achievements of the organization during 2019 in conjunction with international and regional organizations, within the framework of bilateral agreements signed between the relevant organizations and approved by the Executive Council in order to avoid duplication and unify efforts.

His Excellency pointed out the efforts exerted by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization to establish better coordination, cooperation and joint programming with the organizations, which would enhance the capabilities of the human element working in the civil aviation sector and thus raise the level of safety in the Arab region.

 

At the end of his video presentation, His Excellency presented the next three-year program 2020-2022, which was prepared and agreed upon during the coordination meeting between regional and international organizations held in Kuwait on 3 November 2019.

 

One hundred and fifty participants from fourteen (14) countries and eleven (11) regional and international organizations and manufacturers attended the meeting.
