Rabat - The Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the Arab Air Carriers Organization, in coordination with the leading company in the field of auditing and verifying aircraft gas emissions, "VERIFAVIA”, organized a workshop on the topic of monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) within the framework of CORSIA, through the visual communication technology using MICROSOFT TEAM facility, on 02 March 2021, from 10:00 to 12:00 UTC Time. Sixty-two representatives of environmental protection in the civil aviation authorities and airlines in the Arab region in 17 member states of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization took part into this event.
The workshop aimed to provide answers from the experts of "VERIFAVIA" to some of the issues and challenges that faced the focal points of the carbon compensation and reduction plan in the field of "CORSIA" international aviation. The company's experts answered all questions regarding the entry of carbon dioxide emissions data from international flights for the year 2019 after reviewing operator reports and approved reports by audit firms contained in the ICAO Central Registry (CCR).
During his opening speech, His Excellency Eng. Abdenbi Manar, Director General of the organization, praised the permanent and constructive coordination and cooperation between the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the Arab Air Carriers Organization, and called for the need for coordination between Arab countries and the exchange of experiences in a way that enhances Arab integration and benefits from the experiences of countries among them.
This workshop falls within the framework of the efforts made by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the Arab Air Carriers Organization to keep pace with countries, exchange information and experiences, and harmonize the procedures and measures undertaken by member states in the field of environmental protection.
