The thirty-fifth meeting of ACAO’s Civil Aviation Security Committee

The Civil Aviation Security Committee of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization held its thirty-fifth meeting in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco, from 16 to 18 March 2022. Eleven aviation security officials representing 8 member states of the organization participation to the meeting.

During his opening speech, His Excellency Eng. Abdennebi Manar, Director-General of the Organization, called on the members of the committee to update the priorities and work program of the committee in line with the developments of the international scene. He also called for the need to study topics of common Arab interest, such as cybersecurity, raising awareness and security culture, and managing risks in an international context, characterized by the increasing and growing worldwide conflicts, based on a common approach to address these threats taking into account the need for the exchange of experiences and best practices.

During this meeting, participants discussed developments and measures related to civil aviation security in light of the growing threats resulting from conflicts. The committee adopted the outcomes of the second meeting of ACAO’s cybersecurity working group, and also identified the priorities and work program for the 2023-2024 phase, including activities related to capacity building during this phase.

In view of the current developments and emerging threats facing civil aviation security, the Committee has established an advisory team under the umbrella of the Arab Organization to provide technical support and assistance to countries wishing to benefit from the team's expertise related to ICAO security audits.
